Product Description

“There is so much more to China-Africa relations than trade and economics. This is a much needed and timely book that interrogates the role of culture, identity and ideology in cross cultural communications. The authors provide critical insights on the nature of interactions between the peoples of Africa and China.”

--Shannon Ebrahim, Group Foreign Editor for Independent Media

"In a world where the stage is set for Africa and China to engage with each other in an increasingly frequent and multi-disciplined manner, this book provides a discerning perspective on cultural communication. Shining the light on issues of apparent disparities, such as ideology; national identity; value systems; views on religion and work ethic, this book seeks methods to mitigate the challenges that often arise, with the view to enable Africa-China cooperation to succeed.’’

-- Professor Anil Sooklal, Deputy Director-General: Asia and Middle East

Culture, Identities and Ideologies in China-Africa Cooperation sets in a new paradigm in the analysis of the Africa-China cooperation that has so far been limited to discussions on trade, economics and politics. Discussions addressed in this book seek to prepare a foundation for a global paradigm shift where China is the biggest world economy with Africa as the biggest potential two billion population market.”

-- Professor Mammo Muchie, DST/NRF SARChI Research Professor in Innovation Studies, Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa
