ÌLÒ ÈDÈ ÀTI ÈDÁ ÈDE YORÙBÁ: APÁ KEJÌ (Yorùbá Linguistics and Language Use: Part Two) is the second installment of the collection of works on the form and function of the Yoruba language. The twelve chapters in the book focus on various aspects of Yorùbá language and linguistics. These include the discussion of current theoretical trends in syntax, grammar and phonology as they relate to the Yorùbá language. In addition, the book includes chapters on Yorùbá semantics and sociolinguistics, areas often overlooked in works on Yoruba language studies. In going beyond the scope of the first collection, ÌLÒ ÈDÈ ÀTI ÈDÁ ÈDE YORÙBÁ: APÁ KEJÌ includes chapters on the comparative analysis of Yorùbá and other Nigerian languages as well as the relationship between Yorùbá linguistics and literature.

ABOUT THE EDITORS
Harrison Adéníyì is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of African Languages and Literature, Lagos State University, Lagos, Nigeria. He teaches Linguistics and Yorùbá language courses. Adéníyì trained at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. Some of his published books include: Language and Communication: An Introductory Text. Volume 1(1999); Ìlò-Èdè àti Èdá-Ède Yorùbá: Apá Kínní (2000). His articles on Yorùbá and Edo Linguistics have appeared in several scholarly journals. He is currently the National treasurer of Linguistics Association of Nigeria.

Akinloyè Òjó is an assistant professor in the Department of Comparative Literature and the African Studies Institute at the University of Georgia. He teaches Yorùbá and African Studies courses in both. His research is in the areas of African language pedagogy, material development language teaching, and language and linguistic research in Yorùbá. His published works include: The Active Yorùbá Classroom: In-Class Situations for Yorùbá Language Instruction and Practice (2003); The Challenges and Methodologies of African Language Instruction in the West/United States (2002); and In Flight: A Collection of Poems (2000). He is currently the Executive Editor for the African Language Teachers’ Association (ALTA).
