GENESIS II: The Re-Creation of Black People, by Cardinal Monifa Imarogbe
Product Description
These bible lesson essays speak directly and compellingly to the issue of theology and its relevancy to the transformation and empowerment of Black people. They address the philosophies of the gospel of salvation and the gospel of liberation and their effects upon the mindset and behaviours of Black people. In addition, they give a framework to develop positive nurturing relationships, to build safer and secure communities, and to build power to end Black oppression.
Based upon the theology of Black Christian Nationalism, the essays exemplify the historical roots of the bible. Noting that Israel was an African nation; its Covenant relationship with God becomes the basis for liberation theology. Biblical scriptures unquestionably point to nationhood, a promised land, behavior norms conductive to unifying people, the sins that destroy this unity, the calling of the prophets to redirect the behaviors of Israel, and the battles fought in order to establish a nation. Additionally, the relationship or union that Israel was people-centered, salvation for a group of people rather than the individual salvation espoused in today's world. Upon this historical truth Genesis II: The Re-Creation of Black People, is a transforming and liberating program, designed not only to redefine how God works through a people, but offers the mechanisms by which Black people are changed. This change is possible by the experience of God as power and energy, and the experience of community in which Black people practice a way of life of equity in tasks, affection and spiritual energy. The ultimate goal of Genesis II, is the re-recreation of Black people where theology becomes relevant to nation-building, where responsibility for the lives of others is judged as righteous, and where spiritual enlightenment serves as a means to build a better world.
These essays provide invaluable information on contemporary issues, on the historicity of the bible, and an answer to the present world conditions.
