AFRICAN AMERICANS IN PENNSYLVANIA: A History Guide, by Charles L. Blockson
Product Description
This broad survey of known and not-so-known facts about African Americans in Pennsylvania finds its core in the author's two illuminating themes. According to Blockson, resistance set in motion by oppression, and the spirit of self-preservation inspire countless Black accomplishments. Blockson details people, places and events that shaped Pennsylvania's history, and America's as well. He also provides extensive notes on stations, conductors, and passengers of the Underground Railroad.
The author is the curator of the Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection at Temple University. He is one of the foremost authorities on the history of African Americans in Pennsylvania and on the Underground Railroad. A noted genealogist, he is the author of Black Genealogy, also published by Black Classic Press.
